About Me – The Story Behind Pangean Wear
"We're all Pangean," said Sally, a classmate in my AP Spanish class during my senior year of high school.
It was just another dry afternoon until we got into a random off-topic convo, trying to guess everyone’s ethnic background. It was a diverse class, and most people were hard to pinpoint. Then, Sally shouted,
“We’re all Pangean!”
That comment stuck with me—since November 2009.
Where It All Started
Rewind to 1999.
I was a little kid at Walmart with my parents in Fresno, CA, shopping for home goods for our new place. I saw two table mats—one of the U.S. Presidents and one of the world map. I wanted the U.S. Presidents table mat. My dad said I’d learn about them in school and nudged me to get the world map instead.
I’m glad he did.
That world map table mat, as did my growing obsession with world cultures, history, geography, and stories, stayed with me.
The Entrepreneurial Itch
Fast-forward to 2023, when I officially decided to launch Pangean Wear.
But the dream started way earlier. As a kid, I wanted to open casinos, restaurants, hotels… I thought I’d get a loan and start right after college. Naive? For sure. But the entrepreneurial itch never left.
In 2017, I pitched a drone startup to Plug and Play. They loved the idea but asked about the tech—and I told them, "That's why I came to you!"
In 2018, I won a startup competition with TechStars in Silicon Valley. I’ve been chasing the right idea for years. I have ADHD, so my mind is constantly generating ideas, but executing… that’s always been the battle.
Until now.
Channeling My Passions
I love fashion, culture, history, language, philosophy, literature, anthropology, sociology, and art.
And somehow, Pangean Wear became the intersection of all those things—a brand where I could channel everything I care about into something meaningful, creative, and that helps unite people.
A Tribute to My Grandmothers
Pangean Wear starts with Punjab, my roots.
My mom's mom, my Nani (Mohinder Kaur), also created phulkari, but her specialty was the Dhurrie—a vibrant, flat-woven rug known for its colorful patterns and cultural significance.
My first design, the Phulkari Pocket Tee, is inspired by her hand embroidery. Phulkari, meaning "flower work," is a traditional embroidery style from Punjab dating back to the 15th century. It is practiced mainly by women as a personal or gifted expression.
I never met my Dadi (Amar Kaur)—my dad’s late mother—but I’ve always felt her presence. She, too, created a phulkari, and her phulkari will be in a near-future drop. From what I’ve heard, she was artistic, thoughtful, and compassionate. She also loved animals and had a kind heart for all people.
I want to honor these women.
They lived during a time when women’s artistry often went unseen or uncredited. Not anymore. Their legacy deserves to be celebrated.
A part of their DNA—sweat, skill, and soul—is stitched into every Pangean piece.
From My Dad, About His Mom (My Dadi)
To bring her spirit to life, here’s what my dad shared about his mother. It’s her values that inspired so much of this brand:
What values did she live by? Honesty, hard work, giving, generosity, kindness, forgiveness, and loyalty.
What did she love to do? Stay active, be creative, treat everybody equally, support, and feed others. She also loved to instill values in her children.
How did she show love? Expressing love by saying and showing up, giving, feeding, and taking care of others.
What made her special? She was one of a kind and unique when it came to caring for, treating, and supporting others. She was so kind that she couldn't see anyone or anything in pain, sorrow, or misery.

Why I’m Doing This
I want to honor my grandparents, my parents, and the generations before me. I want to build a brand that brings people together, just like the world once was—when we were all one, before the continents split apart.
That’s the story of Pangea—and that’s the mission behind Pangean Wear:
To bridge the Pangean gap through culture, fashion, and storytelling.
One Last Thing
We’re all Pangean—connected by history, shaped by culture, and defined by our uniqueness.
Let’s reconnect. Let’s represent. Let’s wear our story.
Pangean Wear is a unisex brand built for cultural connectors no matter where you’re from or what you wear. While our first drop pays homage to my Punjabi roots and my grandmother’s phulkari embroidery, future drops will spotlight cultures from across the world. We're about connecting cultures by the thread, and we believe the thread that ties us together is stronger than what separates us.
Fun Fact:
According to Ancestry.com, I’m 87% Punjabi and 13% European.
I guess even my DNA believes we’re all Pangean.
